10 Video Game Moments That Were Utterly Patronising
4. Giving Players Head Starts - Rayman 2
In both Rayman 2 and the remake of the game, Rayman Revolution, players will find themselves travelling to The Cave of Bad Dreams. One of the most iconic levels from the game, The Cave of Bad Dreams is a place where the nightmares of Polokus are stored and sealed away by a hideous monster named Jano, who also guards the Elixir of Life which players will need to pick up in order to progress.
When met in game, Jano will tell players that they can have the Elixir if they can find it, but also warns them that he will be chasing behind and will show no mercy should he manage to catch up to them.
No need to worry too much though, because it takes some serious mess ups for Jano to even come close to Rayman, and even more for him to get to point where he will chomp down on a player. There's nothing new in the Cave of Bad Dreams that players haven't encountered before, and the margin for error is extremely generous considering this is at about the halfway point in the game.
On top of all of that, Jano even patronises players further by saying that he's going to give them a helpful head start, making things even more patronising than they were already.
