10 Video Game Movies That Could Genuinely Work

5. Five Nights At Freddy's

Five Nights at Freddy's was never meant to be a game. It is an idea that suits the silver screen more than video games. The main focus of the game is jump-scares that are mitigated by monotonous tasks. Whilst, this isn't a criticism of the game's mechanics, there is something to be said about the true enjoyment of the series.

The games rely on the story. The tidbits that are dropped here and there, all framed around a unique and creepy selling point. If done correctly, a movie would serve the franchise better than any game ever could. There is no worry about correctly translating the gameplay because the gameplay isn't really integral to the experience.

It wouldn't even have to be that intricate. Get a couple creepy animatronics (real ones, not CGI), have an eerie setting, some mysterious murders, a main character with some degree of intrigue, and boom; you have a movie.

A movie would allow the story to blossom and not be constricted by the gameplay. Because, ultimately, the main hindrance of the games is that the game lacks the means to convey information. Having less constrictions would allow the story to flourish.

I like video games, writing and writing about video games. Expect sarcasm and the dry wit of a Brit. And the occasional rant of a unhappy Scot. You know... the usual.
