10 Video Game Plot Twists EVERYONE Saw Coming

1. Mithos Is Yggdrasill - Tales of Symphonia

Death Stranding 2
Namco

Early on in Tales of Symphonia, players cross paths with a half-elven youth who shares the same name as a mythologised, legendary hero, Mithos.

Later, it's revealed that Mithos went on to become the villainous Cruxis leader Yggdrasill, and yeah, you can probably guess where this one's going already.

Indeed, it turns out that the Mithos we've been dealing with is Yggdrasill, and if you followed the most obvious logical path of least resistance, there's a good chance you arrived at that conclusion long before the game did.

After all, despite the game's many reminders that Mithos is a common boy's name, the only one we ever meet in the game bears a passable resemblance to Yggdrasill, and so by invoking a little Occam's razor, it isn't hard to reason out what might be coming.

Beyond this, he tends to show up just when something pivotal happens, and let's be honest - the "mysterious youngster is actually the secret Big Bad" JRPG trope is as old as time itself.
