10 Video Game Reboots You Didn't Know Were Happening
8. Screamer
Screamer is a PC racing game originally released in 1995, which while often unfairly dismissed as a me-too Ridge Racer clone, is actually a damn fine racer in its own right.
Three sequels were released between 1996 and 2000, before the series evaporated into the ether, living on largely as a cult curio.
But at last year's Game Awards, a reboot was announced to be in development by Milestone, the team behind a bevy of popular racing franchises such as MotoGP, Hot Wheels Unleashed, and Monster Jam Showdown.
This reimagining offers up a futuristic, sci-fi infused spin on the original game, with an anime-inspired art style and animated cutscenes developed by Polygon Pictures - one of Japan's most feted animation studios.
Oh, and the ubiquitous Troy Baker will be lending his voice to the campaign, because of course he is.
While the recent gameplay reveal looked a little rough, with a 2026 release date hopefully Milestone has plenty of time to polish the game into fighting shape.
