10 Video Game Reboots You Didn't Know Were Happening
4. Halo
Microsoft has more-or-less confirmed that a seventh mainline Halo game is currently in development for Unreal Engine 5, and considering the wildly divisive response to Halo Infinite, they'll absolutely need to knock this one out of the park to win fans back.
Though it hasn't been stated through any official channels, persistent rumours point to Halo 7 being a soft reboot for the franchise, especially with Microsoft referring to the next Halo game as the start of a new chapter.
Plus, with developer 343 Industries being rebranded as "Halo Studios" last year in an attempt to give the series a "clean break," it feels like a concerted effort to draw a line under the first 25 years of Halo.
Microsoft has already confirmed that one of the new Halo projects would be revealed at the Halo World Championships in October, so it's a pretty solid bet that we'll see Halo 7 then.
While it's highly unlikely the franchise gets rid of its iconic mascot Master Chief, don't be shocked if Halo 7 is either a reimagining of the original game, Combat Evolved, or a more radical reboot.
