10 Video Game Remakes & Remasters That Surpassed Expectations
7. Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition
Xenoblade Chronicles, the famed RPG that graced the tail end of the Nintendo Wii's dominance on store shelves, is a solid example of a 'glow up.
When originally released back in 2012, Xenoblade had plenty of praise heaped upon its story and open world mechanics, but visually the game struggled on the Wii's limited hardware compared to other big name RPG's. When ported to the 3DS a few years later, the visuals took another bump lower in quality as the large environments were shrunk down into handheld form.
Jump forward to now and the difference visually is obvious, but credit to Monolith Soft who went above and beyond in adding important quality of life improvements the previous two releases greatly needed.
Much needed changes to the user interface and a new casual mode are standouts, but it's the addition of a new epilogue chapter that wraps up a few loose ends from the original release that helps to ensure fans of the franchise that it remains in good hands.
It's Monolith Soft's most popular franchise after all, but Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition isn't just by name, it's definitely by nature.
