Sorry Lara, but whilst your finicky climbing animations and meticulous handholds meant that clambering ever-higher came with a unique sense of peril - mainly that we didn't want to replay the same parts all over again - this Anniversary rework is infinitely better in every possible respect.

Sticking with the more fully-bosomed Lara that would later go by the wayside in the 2013 reboot, Anniversary's version of the first game comes with Tomb Raider Legend's control scheme and general feel. That means lots of acrobatic flips and twirls as you unload Ms. Croft's twin pistols, some of the most iconic moments in the franchise like going face-to-snout with a T-Rex, and revamped cutscenes telling the story of Lara's dogged pursuit of treasure alongside her helpful butler, Winston.

Simply because of how finicky and annoying the original controls were (you've likely forgotten how many times you had to stand right on the edge of a given surface to make a specific leap), this Anniversary rework does away with all that frustration, focusing on playing in an enjoyable manner more representative of Lara's larger-than-life reputation.
