10 Video Game Remakes That Erase Their Iconic Originals
4. Bionic Commando

There was a weird time back in 2008 where Capcom decided to resurrect one of their most forgotten 80s mascots: Bionic Commando.
We then got a full-on third-person shooter with open-world swinging, and this little gem: A download-only remake of the original, perfecting everything from platforming to taking out enemies with uber-powerful, cyber-powered haymakers. Coming after many developers had perfected Havok physics, lamping a dude in Bionic Commando sent them flying, their carcass bouncing off the environment in a way that felt sickeningly satisfying.
Combine that with great shooting controls, a solid upgrade path, awesome levels and a sense of movement that let you jump up and around enemies with a few buttons presses, and the gulf of distance between 1988 and 2008 is even bigger than that sounds.
