Batman: Arkham City pulls off a rather ingenious sleight-of-hand by revealing that the healthy Joker encountered throughout the game is actually Clayface, who has masqueraded as the Clown Prince of Crime at the behest of the real, terminally ill Joker.

Beyond the numerous hints the game makes about this Joker being an impostor, diligent players who make the most of the Dark Knight's extensive suite of gadgets can actually figure out the truth for themselves long before it's actually revealed.

If you use Detective Mode on The Joker during the Funhouse sequence, you'll see that he doesn't actually have a skeleton at all, confirming that he isn't who he appears to be.

The Clayface reveal would be especially obvious to anyone who used Detective Mode on Clayface in the previous game, Arkham Asylum, when he assumed the likeness of Commissioner Gordon with a similar lack of a skeleton.
