10 Video Game Secrets That Will NEVER Be Revealed
1. Mortal Kombat 4's Mysterious Character
Mortal Kombat has long been one of the leading fighting game franchises and over the years there have been several characters cut from final releases. The most frustrating of all, however, was Belokk.
He was originally intended to be released in Mortal Kombat Gold but he never made it. According to Ed Boon - a lead developer on the franchise - the team did not have the time to finish his creation, thus he was scrapped altogether.
However, Eurocom - the developer of MK Gold - accidentally released information about him, causing several screenshots of the character to be publicly leaked. Even more bizarrely, while Belokk was cut from the final product, traces of him could still be found.
The secret characters in MK Gold could be unlocked via rotating a base character's box. For example, rotating Cyrax's one unlocked Sektor. When players rotated Tanya's box, a question mark would appear hinting that Belokk was accessible.
Unfortunately, this was subsequently chalked down as a technical glitch and it was confirmed the character could not be unlocked, under any circumstance.
This was extremely frustrating for fans, since it was abundantly obvious Belokk was real and had a narrative to accompany him, yet his story was never told, and perhaps never will be.
