10 Video Game Sequels That Changed The Way You Viewed Characters

5. Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel - Handsome Jack

Red Dead Redemption - John Marston
Gearbox Software

Since Handsome Jack first appeared in Borderlands 2 he has become the face of the franchise and remains one of gaming's top villains.

Throughout the course of the game, Jack regularly taunts the player with witty banter, often referring to the vault hunters as bandits. One of the reasons Jack fights the players so passionately is because in his deranged mind he is actually the hero cleansing the world of "bandits".

But Jack was not always so obsessed with murder... or was he? The follow-up game titled The Pre-Sequel saw jack working with the player and is slightly more relatable. By the end of The Pre-Sequal, Jack has become the twisted villain we know and love.

The Telltale Tales from the Borderlands also shines a different light on the character, having him appear as a hologram. He is presented in a more vulnerable way given that he has no physical form but this ultimately proves to be one of his evil schemes.
