While Red Dead Redemption made us feel true anguish at the sight of a beloved hero being downed like a stray dog, The Last of Us managed to up the ante with even more heart-wrenching moments and true emotion. This is impressive, of course, but does that alone make it so deeply deserving of a sequel?

No, of course it doesn't. But luckily the emotional side of The Last of Us' story was just one of so many strings to its bow. Taking the cinematic flair that Naughty Dog perfected in their Uncharted series, adding an engrossing world, fantastic characters, pulse-pounding action, and even some neat RPG elements to boot, The Last of Us was an experience that truly offered something for everyone.

The adventure of Joel and Ellie was incredible from start to finish, and the fact that there's room for more at the end is a prospect far too exciting to overlook. That being said, the all-encompassing nature of the devastation in The Last of Us means that the potential for fresh, new stories is just as enticing. Who knows what fascinating struggles could be taking place in other locations across America or even the whole world.

Joel and Ellie's journey may just have been the beginning...
