6. Passive-Mode Switching in GTA Online

Grand Theft Auto Online is easily among Rockstar Games’ greatest creations, not to mention one of the most popular and lucrative online services of all time. A huge part of its appeal is the freedom participants have to mess with each other and wreak havoc within the expansive San Andreas sandbox.

That mischief can manifest in ways the game didn’t intend, however, when shamelessly sneaky residents take advantage of “passive mode” to confuse enemies and get quick kills.

Basically, “passive mode” prevents people from conventionally killing – or being killed by – other inhabitants. So, anyone who enables the feature should be seen as a non-combatant who's busy doing their own thing at their own pace. After all, sometimes you just want to roam around San Andreas without feeling like there’s a target on your back.

Unfortunately, certain menaces will exploit "passive mode" by waiting for someone to pass by them before immediately switching out of it so that can execute their unassuming townsfolk ASAP. Or, they might stalk their target for as long as possible before doing the deed just to add insult to injury.

These troublemakers might even reverse that strategy by murdering people and then entering “passive mode” so that retaliation isn’t possible.

Whatever the case may be, far too many gamers regularly let their guards down around “passive mode” players.
