10 Video Game Tricks That Will Blow Your Mind
4. Graphics Swap - GoldenEye & Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary
Now this one isn’t secret and doesn’t have any real impact on gameplay - it's just a very cool trick that has to be highlighted.
Until the recent wave of Resident Evil Remakes that have seemingly resurrected those horror classics for the modern age, Microsoft led the charge on how to do it right.
Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary hit shelves back in 2011 and was such a mind-blowing feat at the time. Being able to switch from old to new graphics whilst still retaining smooth gameplay seemed like some sort of witchcraft. Now older games would like players to remember them whist living on for a new generation.
Though thanks to recent leaks, we now know this mind-blowing trick almost graced Xbox Live Arcade 4 years earlier.
It turns out that the legendary First Person Shooter developed by Rare for the N64 was meant to get this treatment in 2007. Yes, we almost got GoldenEye on XBLA, years before the questionable Activision game. To this day, because the rights are a mess and Nintendo doesn’t seem to want to budge, players had this taken away before they ever got it.
But just looking at it, this GoldenEye Remaster would still hang today graphics-wise, it still leaps and bounds better looking than the original.
