In Resident Evil 4, Agent Leon Kennedy is tasked with rescuing the US president's daughter, Ashley, after she's been kidnapped by a cult called Los Illuminados. Leon is led to a rural village, where the locals have been infected by a mind-controlling parasite called Las Plagas.

After Leon locates Ashley, he prepares to take her home. Suddenly, the cult's leader Saddler appears, revealing Ashley has been infected with Las Plagas. Once the parasite has reached maturity, she'll be under Saddler's control. Saddler will then manipulate Ashley to infect the president, allowing him to take over the country.

As every James Bond villain knows, telling the hero your entire plan in meticulous detail never works out. But what Saddler does next makes even less sense. For the rest of the game, Saddler's minions desperately try to retrieve Ashley so they can...um... wait...

Why don't they just let her go? I mean... she's infected, right? If Saddler didn't say anything, Leon would've assumed he accomplished his mission, oblivious that Ashley is carrying a brain-controlling virus. After Leon rescued Ashley, Saddler should've commanded his lackeys to stand down, allowing Ashley to unknowingly play her part in his master plan.
