10 Video Game Where You Can Gamble To Gain Ultimate Power (Or Lose Everything)
9. Helm of Draesca - Total War: Warhammer III
Total War: Warhammer III takes place during a worldwide demon invasion, and because of this, it introduces a lot of new cursed items into the series. They all come with some really interesting pros and cons, but the most devastating of them is the Helm of Draesca.
The Helm of Draesca is a unique armor item that the player can gain randomly by winning battles. The helm comes with some pretty decent defense buffs, but at the same time, it has a 1% chance to kill its wielder, either removing them from the game or, if they’re immortal, wounding them for the ridiculously long duration of 10 turns.
The buffs the helm provides might be worth the risk in and of themselves, but where the item's true power resides is in its secret trait that the player receives for its prolonged use.
Those who wear the helm for several turns in a row without dying to its curse receive a huge permanent boost to their hit points and damage resistances, as well as research rate, making the gamble of using it all the more tempting.
Just be sure not to risk it too much, since the buffs are of no use to the dead.
