As a movie, Pumpkinhead should have been great. It was directed by legendary visual effects wizard Stan Winston in his directorial debut, and starred the equally awesome Lance Henrikson in the lead role.

Sadly, due to its limited box office returns it was banished to the world of cult horror favourites. Its direct-to-video follow-up fared even worse, and despite all that, they somehow conjured up the game Bloodwings: Pumpkinhead's Revenge one year later.

Released on DOS, Bloodwings is a first-person shooter, an unexpected move considering there's very little shooting going on in either movie on which it is based. However, one look at the date of release, which was 1995, tells us that the likely reason for this genre choice: Doom.

That's right, the epic 1993 FPS is also responsible for a bunch of derivative games that copied its mold without the success. Bloodwings was one of them, and is now nothing more than a relic in a flawed horror series.
