10 Video Games Based On Movies That Actually Didn't Suck

8. Star Wars: Shadows Of The Empire

This one may be seen as a bit of a cheat also, I guess. Fans of Star Wars might be wondering why I didn't go with one of the entries in the Super Star Wars series. It's simple, really; I kind of like this game better. While it's not based on any movie in particular, it does provide a backstory for Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. Some people talk about how the tank-like controls can take you out of the game, yet for me, nothing can take me out of the engaging battles and backdrops in this game. Getting to take down walkers in your craft is certainly of note, but the rest of the game is nothing to shrug off either; you get plenty of weapons, fight many different types of enemies, and for the time, the atmosphere was amazing. The highlight for me was that the big battles were not just relegated for boss encounters, but often came up in the middle of levels, when you weren't expecting them. It made conservation of health and ammo that much more important. Also, anybody remember that de-bug cheat that allowed you to do just about anything? With an N64 controller, that gave me blisters for days.

I'm a fan of pop-culture in all mediums: Music, Film, Gaming, Comics, TV, Whatever. I can generally find something enjoyable in even the worst trash. I guess as a B-Horror enthusiast, I kind of have to. Currently I'm an author working on a manuscript for a crime novel, and attending school to be an Environmental Health and Safety Technician. In the past I've made a go at running in an election for MLA (Member of the Legislative Assembly) for my hometown of Glace Bay. I was 23 at the time, and though I lost (by like a lot), I learned a lot more about politics in a month than I ever learned. Get at me on Twitter @DanWilsonWC
