7. Lord Of The Rings: The Two Towers & Return Of The King
These games were a lot of fun; Two Towers also included the plot from Fellowship of the Ring, and allowed you to play as Legolas and Aragorn. The second game was an updated version of the first, following the last film in the series of the same name. In addition to the plot, Return of the King allowed play of several characters, and outside of the Gandolf scenario, allowed for co-op gameplay. It featured interactive environments, and mechanics reminiscent of Gauntlet. Upgradable skills also made the game customisable in order to suit each person's individual play style. Though seen as somewhat formulaic, this hack-and-slash adventure is very rewarding, entertaining from the opening of the first game to the closing of the second. It was certainly one of the best co-op games I played in the generation.
