This seminal shooter was the perfect tie-in to Pierce Brosnan's acclaimed debut as Bond, James Bond. Arguably even more popular than the movie, its high octane thrills changed the landscape of action games for generations to come.

Arriving with low expectations due to a poor display at the 1997 Electronic Entertainment Expo, GoldenEye turned a whole lot of heads upon release.

Boasting colourful, diverse environments, realistic graphics (by the standards of the time) and attention to detail (particularly the sniper rifle play), the game became the third-best-selling Nintendo 64 game ever with more than 8 million units.

A pioneer in stealth and strategy-based gameplay, GoldenEye changed the landscape of first person shooters forever. Its multi-purpose missions and vast array of weaponry keep it fresh and fun throughout both the campaign and multiplayer action.

Its 1995 namesake was a huge hit with critics and Bond fans alike with many crediting it as revitalising the Bond franchise. Just as the film rewrote the rules of putting a 007 adventure together on screen, the tie-in launched an acclaimed series of games centred on Pierce Brosnan's Bond.
