10 Video Games Delayed To "Get It Right" (But Still Got It Wrong)
1. Brink
Bethesda is known for developing or publishing stellar video games and back during its glory days. Brink, however, is one of the worst titles to emerge from the studio.
It was delayed multiple times but this didn't stop Bethesda and Splash Damage from releasing a product that was far below their standards. Chief among its numerous appeals - that is, pre-release - was the freerunning mechanics which seemed novel at the time. In reality, they ended up being a novelty that had little use in actual gameplay.
The story was incredibly underwhelming and short, with no actual narrative. The single-player missions were empty and repetitive to the point where you would be hard pressed to distinguish between them. The multiplayer's appeal was only ever really there when playing with friends, even then it paled in comparison to other first-person shooters on the market at that time.
The AI was also severely underdeveloped and did not function in the intended way, causing frustration in every combat encounter. For a game delayed a little more than two years, it is impressive to see just how badly Brink turned out.
