10 Video Games Delayed To "Get It Right" (But Still Got It Wrong)

3. Days Gone

Red Dead 2 PC
SIE Bend Studio

Days Gone is a much more recent example of a game delayed to improve the final product, but which still managed to produce a lacklustre result.

When the announcement broke about the title being delayed for two months, it was implied scheduling was the cause. This may have been true, but given its poor reception upon release, you'd be forgiven for thinking it wasn't true. In the same announcement it was stated developer Bend Studio would take time to further polish the game, refinement that was missing on release.

Creating an open-world game centred on zombies is a tough feat. The missions soon become repetitive and empty while the writing here was bland and cliché. In an era where open-world titles have much competition - considering Days Gone released after Red Dead Redemption 2 - it is hard to stand out amongst the crowd.
