10 Video Games Released At The Wrong Time
2. Titanfall 2
Though it has to settle for the second spot here, Titanfall 2 is renowned for having an absolutely atrocious release window, being sent out to die between Battlefield 1 and Call Of Duty: Infinite Warfare.
It’s so notorious that it’s not really fair to call it a hidden gem anymore, with the pendulum swinging the other way. Those who played the game at release have lauded it so much that its quality is well known, even if sales figures and player base (things publishers tend to care about much more than cheap praise) didn’t rival the two giants released either side of it.
The praise isn’t for nothing though. The game did much more with the Titan gimmick, allowing various different playstyles and attacks, as well as providing a rich online mode to boot.
As for the story mode, it’s one of the best ever in a first person shooter, in terms of invention, level design and just sheer fun. The time travel level especially is unrivalled.
These days, it gets the recognition it deserves, but that’s despite its release window, not because of it.
