6. Ratchet & Clank
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Y_cY_miDxo It's understandably easy to forget just how influential Insomniac's poster child Ratchet truly was; we haven't seen him make real waves in years, after all. Still, the little Lombax and his robot partner are the most enduring members of the PlayStation 2 platforming triad - joined by Sucker Punch's Sly Cooper and Naughty Dog's Jak and Daxter - and starred in PS3 hits Tools of Destruction, A Quest for Booty and A Crack In Time. To their detriment, however, Ratchet and Clank were also leading the charge on Full Frontal Assault, the aptly named Going Mobile, Before the Nexus, and All 4 One. The common thread between these games is a sad one: They're all token spinoffs, devoid of the addictive, manic gameplay that made R&C great. It doesn't help that, in lieu of leading an actual game, the pair is now being tossed into the movie bin. Or that the first game will soon be remade again. Or that All 4 One was a soulless husk of a mash-up designed only to promote PlayStation Move. At least he's competent in Sony All Stars Battle Royale?

A freelance games writer, you say? Typically battling his current RPG addiction and ceaseless perfectionism? A fan of horror but too big a sissy to play for more than a couple of hours? Spends far too much time on JRPGs and gets way too angry with card games?
Well that doesn't sound anything like me.
