10 Video Games So Bad They KILLED OTHER GAMES

7. Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two

When your humble scribe was but a child, I first learned of Epic Mickey from an issue of Game Informer talking about it when it was soon to be released. Everything I read, from the story to the concept art and early screenshots, told kid me that this was going to be absolutely incredible.

I wouldn't end up buying it, for reasons only kid me will ever understand. But in retrospect, at least I spared myself the disappointment of stepping on this train bound for nowhere.

The Epic Mickey series came to a screeching halt in 2012 with the release of Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two. While not the worst thing in the world, the game did little to improve on the problems present in the first game. Add onto that some truly abysmal AI, and you get a game that was met with - at best - lukewarm critical and financial reception.

But Junction Point studios were not to be deterred, as they were already planning the next game: Epic Donald. However, the reception to Epic Mickey 2, as well as shifting priorities for their games going forward, compelled Disney to pull the plug on the franchise.

Maybe if Epic Mickey 2 was better, Disney would've held on, maybe not, but Epic Mickey 2 stopped a once-promising idea dead in its tracks.
