10 Video Games That Are Far Creepier Than They Look
5. Epic Mickey - When Disney Gets Dark
Now, of course, Disney has never been afraid to sneak in some distinctly creepy characters, places and references.
The company may be defined by the adorable likes of Mickey Mouse, and provide rather more palatable takes on fairytales than the grim originals, but things certainly do get creepy around here at times.
Junction Point Studios’ 2010 Wii release Epic Mickey isn’t directly frightening, perhaps, but there’s a The Nightmare Before Christmas-esque vibe of the macabre and bizarre about its world. In this inspired platformer, Mickey finds himself in the Wasteland, a grim and creepy place where (essentially) obscure characters languish.
The Shadow Blot is always terrifying to tangle with, and the prominent painbrush-wielding antics are reminiscent of Super Mario Sunshine. Unlike that bright and sun-kissed title, however, Epic Mickey has a surprisingly dark edge.
