10 Video Games That Are Perfect For Movie Lovers

6. Batman: Arkham City

Batman: Arkham City Batman & JokerIf You Like... The Dark Knight, The Avengers Doctor Hugo Strange knows a secret -the identity of Batman. Strange is a brilliant yet devious psychiatrist who has been handed control of Arkham City, a portion of Gotham restricted to criminals and the criminally insane. During a press conference, Bruce Wayne is arrested and taken into Arkham City for analysis where Strange reveals that he knows Bruce's alter-ego. Shortly thereafter, Bruce naturally escapes and with the aid of Alfred dons the bat suit again to uncover what grand design Hugo Strange has created for Arkham City's protocol 10. Batman also faces many obstacles, given most of his adversaries are also within the walled-off prison asylum (including The Joker). Batman Arkham City is the most satisfying superhero experience available to gamers. The writers of the game delved deep into Batman's mythology to create a cohesive experience that makes Batman's universe feel like a living, breathing place. All of the characters are given clever motivations that fit their histories within the mythology. Nothing feels overwrought or forced in Arkham city. The main villain, Hugo Strange, is interesting because he has never been used before in either Batman games or movies. The writing is complemented by phenomenal voice acting, including veterans from Batman: The Animated Series - Kevin Conroy (Batman) and Mark Hamill (The Joker) both reprise their lead roles. The game goes to great lengths to place the player in the iconic role. I understand that sounds like hyperbole, but I assure you that - in this case - it's true. Just take a few minutes to glide through the air with Batman's cape or use the grapnel gun to swing between building and you will see exactly what I mean. The game combat also allows you to make full use of Batman's gadgets, too. For example, he can hang upside down from gargoyles to snatch criminals. You also have to use Batman's technology to play detective in order to unveil clues to move the plot forward. Batman is the Dark Knight Detective, after all. A wonderful experience.
