5. Fighter's History
Back to the 1990s, which was a pretty damn prolific period for these sorts of blatant copies, and Fighter's History was an exceptionally lazy attempt to fleece gamers of their money by copying, yes, you guessed it, Street Fighter II. Incredulously, the developers had the gall to steal most of the attack animations and fight locations from Capcom's immortal beat 'em up classic, and many of the characters were even familiar (most infamously, a female version of Ryu called Ryoko). Inevitably, Capcom ended up suing the developer, but Data East, the scoundrels behind it, claimed that given how both games drew from a similar aspect of Japanese culture, there was no case and it should be dismissed. Amazingly, Capcom lost the lawsuit, and we can only assume that the judge had either never picked up a video game controlled in his life - quite likely given the time period - or was just braindead. Just look at the above screenshot, for Christ's sake.
