Pretty much everyone has played Mario Kart in some form or another. Which means that pretty much everyone has felt the sting of a blue shell or the cruel jab from the gods of fate of being hit by chance by your own green shell rebounding off a wall...then a red shell...then getting shunted off the track as you get up to speed again, before being hit by lightning as you're going over a jump and falling almost quickly as your tears of rage almost certainly are by now!

But this is the absolute genius of Mario Kart, especially when you are in the same room as your opponents.

The love/hate relationship that this game creates is addictive - you can't end on a loss but you also just want to go for one more win to add to your tally.

No matter who you are, you will do just about anything to get a win and you won't stop until you've got it. Surely this must've ended relationships based on the winner of a race and how that win was decided.

For the record, I think that seeing a blue shell go past you to hit your friend in the lead and then hitting them with a red shell just as they recover is totally justifiable...
