10 Video Games That Immortalised Their Fans In Amazing Ways
7. Ezra Chatterton - World Of Warcraft
Ezra Chatterton was a huge World Of Warcraft fan and spent most of his time on the game while dealing with brain cancer; during this time he reached out to Blizzard through Make-A-Wish with the hopes of being able to visit the studios. Not only did Blizzard respond but they went above and beyond a simple tour, by offering him the chance to help create a quest, voice one of the characters in that storyline, design a crossbow that was named after his username Ephoenix AND gave him the world's first Ashes of Al’ar which lets you summon a mythical phoenix mount.
The love that the community had for Ezra was also monumental, as after his sad passing in 2008 thousands of players embarked to complete his personal quest “Kyle’s gone Missing” to complete it out of respect. As a final nod, Blizzard also renamed one of the characters to Ezra Wheathoof after 2009’s Lunar Festival.
