10 Video Games That Killed Off The Wrong Character
5. The Joker - Batman Arkham City
The Clown Prince of crime is Batman's most famous villain, and for good reason. While Bats may have a much better rogues' gallery than most superheros - looking at you Whiplash - it's hard for even the likes of Bane or The Riddler to live up to the Joker himself.
So that makes it all the more devastating when he seems to bite the dust for good at the end of Rocksteady's Arkham City. The problem with this death isn't that it was a bad decision; it's simply that the question became "where do we go now?" Arkham Knight follows this up by trying to use Scarecrow and the titular villain himself to drive the story, yet neither of them ever filled those huge clown shoes.
A great choice would have been to kill off one of Batman's every growing roster of support characters instead. Someone like Dick Grayson or Barbara Gordon would have opened up a whole other realm of possibilities. Not to mention just how well it would have tied into the whole Arkham Knight plot line, adding yet another layer into the concept of Batman's guilt.
Instead Joker dies, then just kinda comes back anyway. Classic comic book move.
