10 Video Games That Killed Off The Wrong Character

6. The House Leaders - Fire Emblem: Three Houses

To anybody even remotely familiar with the Fire Emblem franchise, one thing is immediately clear upon starting the game. One of the beautiful students is going to die, and it's going to be your fault.

Halfway through the game all three houses are thrown head first into a war situation. Dependent on which of the three routes the player takes (four, if you want to admit you're a monster), they will be thrown against the people they regularly took to tea parties and ate lunch with in the early stages, now watching as they fall by Byleth's sword.

The worst part is that one of all three of the game's most interesting and well rounded characters - the three house leaders - will end up dead by the end of the game. It's simply unavoidable and heartbreaking, considering there's no way to save them.

Meanwhile characters like Hanneman are free to sit around Garreg Mach being completely useless for the rest of the game. The choice between listening to Hanneman talk about crests or helping Dimitri overcome his trauma is no choice at all.

There's no amount of butler and maid outfit DLC that can fix this decision.
