Many will know the name Peter Molyneux, most famous for Black & White, the Fable series, and his over-embellished affirmations. In 2012, Molyneux founded 22Cans and began work on Godus, a god-simulator funded on Kickstarter. Once he reached his goal, a beta version was released nine months later on Steam.

But things started to fall apart. Molyneux announced DeNA would publish Godus on mobile, despite previously stating Godus would not involve publishers at all and that the mobile app was not the top priority. Furthermore, microtransactions seeped into the mobile app, going against Molyneux's notions that the iOS and Android games would be free-to-play.

Almost two years after the beta release Rock Paper Shotgun asked in a scolding interview if Molyneux was a pathological liar. Molyneux announced he would not speak to the press again, also claiming Kickstarter didn't raise the money despite raising £100,000 over the target.

Godus remains as a Steam Early Access release to this day, with optimistic paragraphs claiming 22Cans are "continuing to refine the game based on the feedback of the players." Many Kickstarter pledges never received their rewards, and 22Cans have been pretty silent on Godus' development. It's unlikely we’ll see Godus come out of Early Access anytime soon, if at all.
