10 Video Games That Make You Realise How Greedy The Industry Has Become
6. The Elder Scrolls: Blades Monetising The Grind To Get Ahead
The Elder Scrolls:
Blades was a mobile game Bethesda Softworks showcased back in May of 2018 that
looked promising for fans of the series who wanted some more of the content
they’d grown to love but on the go - hopefully with less of the bugs the series has garnered infamy for.
Such are the way of things though that anticipation was short lived when the game finally released. Players were left with a bad taste in their mouth; from dull combat and ridiculous wait times for something as simple as opening a chest you earn when playing, the game didn’t do Bethesda any favours.
While it had some features going for it, like the town building aspect, the excitement sort of stopped there as once again the game is bogged down by the horrible wait times, unless you decided to pay to speed the processes up. Free-to-play feels more like pay-to-win.
After much backlash from fans Bethesda decided to try and improve the game by lowering wait times and allowing you to actually access the loot you find sooner… only a year or so post release.
