5. Dead Space

It's almost a shame that Dead Space is so scary, because the more faint of heart will never experience some of the most atmospheric environment design in the industry. Visceral Games' horror masterpiece is one of the best, and most original AAA survival horrors ever made. Taking place on a ravaged, desolate space ship, Dead Space's enemies are horror incarnate. Rather than being able to fill the Necromorphs with bullets and hope for the best, Dead Space features a genius gunplay system. The game requires players to carefully aim at the Necromorph's limbs in order to take them down, meaning that high levels of accuracy are required even when you're moments away from becoming an alien claw kebab.
