10 Video Games That REFUSED TO DIE

2. Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World: The Game

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game hit digital storefronts way back in August 2010 to accompany the release of Edgar Wright's ludicrously entertaining movie adaptation.

The side-scrolling beat 'em up received broadly positive reviews and became a cult fave in the years that followed, but was ultimately de-listed from both Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network for ambiguous reasons, largely presumed to be related to the game's licensing.

This was an especially infuriating issue considering that the game was never given a physical release, meaning that only those who had already bought it would have continued access to it.

Though it seemed like fans simply had to accept the game's loss to time, things changed earlier this year when, ahead of its 10th anniversary, Scott Pilgrim creator Bryan Lee O'Malley tweeted Ubisoft inquiring about a re-release.

To the surprise of both O'Malley and fans, Ubisoft ended up reaching out to him to arrange a "Complete Edition" remaster, inclusive of all existing DLC, for release on PC, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Stadia.

And like that, a game which lived on in the hard drives of the select few was reborn. Though the new edition is still awaiting release, it's simply a relief to fans that they'll finally be able to get their hands on this cult classic once again.
