9. Lying For The Blacksmith's Own Good - The Witcher 3

Geralt's world in The Witcher 3 is more grey than black and white morality-wise, which is why sometimes the best choice doesn't equal the right thing to do.

The mission "Twisted Firestarter" is a prime example of that. It's one of the first jobs you can do in the starting location of White Orchard, in which the dwarf blacksmith in the local village hires you to find out who set his workshop on fire.

Tracking the arsonist is actually a fairly straightforward process, but deciding what to do with him is a completely different matter.

The culprit is a simple villager named Napp. When Geralt confronts him, the man will explain that he set the smithy ablaze because, just like the rest of the village, he distrusts the smith due to him being a dwarf and his support of the Nilfgaard army, which conquered their home.

Now, due to his blatant racism and guilt, it makes sense to turn Napp in. However, this will result in the blacksmith ordering the man's execution, causing the villagers to hate him even more.

Ironically, if you want to save the dwarf's reputation, you have to lie in favor of the people who hate him.
