10 Video Games That Survived Embarrassing Launches

5. Assassin's Creed Unity

If you were to summarise the fail of Assassin's Creed Unity in one picture, it'd be that one.

Heralded as the first proper title for the current console generation (over Black Flag's port from last gen), it was billed as an exciting continuation of the franchise. Whilst competitive multiplayer had been in since Brotherhood, Unity promised four player co-op throughout the main story.

On launch though, it was a mess. Glitches, terrible utilisation of microtransactions and online connection issues dogged Unity and earned it some warranted derision, all off the back of controversy surrounding the lack of playable female characters.

Tail firmly between legs, Ubisoft rewarded players with some once-intended paid DLC for free, by way of thank you, and patched out the game to make it more coherent. Which is good, as even though it may not be the best series entry, being able to free roam and assassinate around Paris with up to three friends is a blast.
