4. The Division
Oh Ubisoft, not again. After deflating the hype for Watch_dogs with its tech demo looking a lot better than what was delivered, they did the same for 2016's open world looter shooter, The Division.
So, not off to a great start on that one. But like all good online service shooters, The Division did gain a lot more traction once servers began running smoothly, and fans accepted the nature of the game. Much of the story was negated in favour of grinding co-op missions with friends, garnering enough attention to warrant a sequel.
It was, however, short lived success for the first title, as not long after the playerbase massively dwindled. At a peak of 2 million players, it dropped a staggering 93% of active players within a few months.
