10 Video Games That Time Forgot (But We Haven’t)

2. Bubsy In Claws Encounters Of The Furred Kind - Sega Genesis - 1993

Accolade

After Mario and Sonic there was a boom in mascot platformers. The 90s in particular saw an oversaturated market of cartoon mascots, some good and some not so good...

Bubsy was the creation of American video game developer, Accolade. The aim of Bubsy was to collect balls of yarn and fight against alien creatures called the ‘woolies’. Voiced by Rob Paulsen he recently tweeted about his experience working on the title writing “It was a gig. I got paid. I cashed the check. I’m grateful.” - The level of enthusiasm is extremely apparent.

Another relic of the 90s gaming scene, the sprawling alien worlds and mystifying enemies add to my nostalgia and rose-tinted memories about this title, but it's definitely not without its faults. I still have nightmares about this rage-inducing game and its lack of hit points which sees you losing innumerable lives due to a single touch, fall or tumble. Further to Bubsy’s lack of brawn the camera is permanently zoomed in so far that working out your hazardous surroundings is anyone’s guess.

All I know is that seven year old me loved this game so eh... definitely don't read the reviews before trying this one.
