10 Video Games That Were Banned For Seriously Barmy Reasons

1. All Video Games Were Banned In Greece In 2002

url-26 Well, that's one way of confronting a turbulent issue, Greece. Shocked? It's completely true, though perhaps not quite for the reasons you'd expect it to be. Back in 2002, the government of Greece decided to take a stand against illegal gambling (mainly through the phasing out of electronic gambling machines), though the people in charge of making decisions like that weren't the sort of people who had ever seen or played a video game in real life, and just winged it. As a result, a vague law was passed that literally banned all video games. As in, video games were made completely illegal, even if they weren't centered or based around themes of gambling. In fact, anything that used software had to go bye bye. And if you happened to be caught playing a video game during this dark time, chances are you could go to jail. As you might've guessed, the citizens of Greece weren't happy with the law because it was insane, and the European Court of Justice (whatever that is) had to get involved. Greece ended up having to actually think about what it had done, and as of today, the barmy law is no longer regulated. Oh, Greece - you crazy! Like this article?
