10 Video Games That Were SAVED From Destruction

4. No Man's Sky

Usually, when there's talk of a game being destroyed it would be more accurate to say that its code was simply lost or deleted. After all, if a company wants a game cancelled the worst that happens is that the game's files are wiped - it's not like the development team's HQ is then nuked from orbit (please don't take that as a challenge, corporate America).

Yet in this list entry, the destruction is of an entirely literal nature as No Man's Sky developers Hello Games nearly lost their magnum opus when their offices were flooded.

As PC Gamer reported back in 2013, Hello Games suffered a particularly traumatic Christmas when God decided to celebrate his son's birthday by re-enacting Noah's Ark inside the developer's workspace. Unsurprisingly, all electrical equipment was wiped out in the blink of an eye - a somewhat sizable setback for a game development studio.

However, showing a determination that would make a shonen protagonist tip a spiky hair strand in respect, Hello Games rolled up their sleeves and somehow managed to get the project back on track after spending their Christmas break cobbling together makeshift work stations.

Given that level of resolve, it's no wonder the team managed to not only release the game but make sure that it survived past its infamously terrible launch.
