7. The Swear Button - Scarface

The developers behind Scarface knew they were fighting an uphill battle from the get go. Being a tie-in to an old movie most gamers might not have even seen, the open-world release was also always going to draw inevitable comparisons to GTA thanks to its crime narrative and focus on anarchic sandbox mayhem.

Knowing they could never compete with Rockstar despite being a pretty damn good developer in their own right though, Radical Entertainment came up with a myriad of different ways to distinguish their title from that world-dominating series.

There were a few ideas the studio decided to go with, including taking over different establishments to increase your "empire" and laundering dirty money into usable cash, but the weirdest one that tried to steal the controversial thunder from GTA was the inclusion of a dedicated "swear button".

Being able to swear at your enemies (or old ladies in the street) in a fake Al Pacino drawl was obviously amazing, and it even helped sales, as the game gained popularity when it won the Guinness World Record for having the largest amount of cursing in a video game.
