10 Video Games That Were Too Damn Long - Commenter Edition

2. Persona 5

Final Fantasy 7 Remake
Atlus

If you're thinking of starting Persona 5, it's worth knowing from the outset that Atlus' all-timer RPG is the slog to end all slogs as the genre goes.

Even on the lower end you're going to need to commit 80 hours to the cause, and players not rushing are more likely to end up with 100 hours on the clock.

Persona 5, for everything it does so well, is a game that has little regard or respect for the player's time: you're locked in, and you're going to enjoy it.

Sections like Okumara's Palace are torturously overlong, distending the game out to such ends that players not sufficiently invested in the story or characters are highly likely to bounce off eventually.

Literally a few-dozen hours of the game could be straight-up lost without compromising the entertainment value on offer.

There are obviously many hardcore Persona fans who lick their lips at the prospect of a 100-hour game, but for the average player with limited free time and a desire to, you know, play other games, it is a colossal, unreasonable ask.
