10 Video Games That Will Disappoint You In 2019
5. Bloodstained: Ritual Of The Night
Bloodstained smells all-too-similar to Mighty No. 9, with its "bankable" industry veteran developer, 2.5D art-style and multiple delays. Not a comparison any studio should want.
A spiritual successor to Castlevania from series creator, Koji Igarashi, normally that would be reason enough to be excited. Castlevania is a phenomenal video game series and we're desperate for more games of that ilk, but Bloodstained doesn't look like it will reach those heights.
The 2.5D art style alone is off-putting, because it lacks the heart of hand-drawn or pixelated graphics. However the game has already been delayed two years and the PlayStation Vita release cancelled. Not to mention, it will be released piecemeal, rather than one whole product, in order to avoid future delays. Those are all terrible signs by my book.
The good news is you can play the 8-bit prequel, Bloostained: Curse of the Moon on all platforms right now, and it's great! Here's hoping Iga can surprise us all and deliver an excellent game.
