10 Video Games That Will Disappoint You In 2019
6. Skull & Bones
The upcoming pirate multiplayer game from Ubisoft has potential to be good - if Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon are anything to go by - but pirate games are very hard to nail. Just look at Sea of Thieves.
Skull and Bones is Ubisoft's long overdue attempt to cash-in on the misguided love gamers have for Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag. Except this game won't have a big single-player campaign, it will be entirely multiplayer. As mentioned, Ubisoft have a decent track record with such live services games, but the lack of hype around this game is deafening.
The biggest issue this game faces, is that sailing boats is just not fun. Once you get past the novelty of being a pirate, slowly sailing a boat and angling it to shoot cannons at another, is not a fun gameplay loop. The game's saving grace could be the islands and on-foot gameplay but we're not convinced that aspect of Skull & Bones will be particularly fleshed out.
Time will tell if Ubisoft's latest foray into live services can succeed, but early impressions are not good.
