10 Video Games With Absolutely USELESS AI

2. Aliens: Colonial Marines

There are bad games that are just simply bad games from the outset and that we except nothing much from. Then there are conniving marketing campaigns that are sold to us in the form of broken promises before the game is even being developed. Case in point; Aliens: Colonial Marines.

It could be considered a little harsh to single out this single entry in the Alien video game franchise as its taken an astounding 35 years since the initial Alien film was released to get the formula right which was exemplified in Alien: Isolation. Unlike Alien: Isolation which is a fantastic game even without the Alien licence attached, Colonial Marines is just a godforsaken mess from the bottom up and the artificial intelligence stands out on its own demerit alone.

If this game was translated into a movie for the franchise then it would be pretty short as the protagonist wouldn't have much of an issue fighting an alien that doesn't understand the concept of location as a lot of xenomorphs tend to think you don't exist when you're playing!

The game is chocked full of unintentionally comedic instances of game breaking glitches. The titular aliens are barely present throughout the game or at least that's the way that the shoddy lighting would make it seem and the colonial marines themselves couldn't shoot a statue if they were given a lifetime of tries. Even if they did, it's unlikely you'd be unable to tell as the hit detection in this game is simply non-existent.

The most existential problem though is that this game is an actual existing piece of media, one that preyed on the love of the fans and extortionately exploited it.
