3. Sonic the Hedgehog (2006)
This is what it looks like when an icon falls from grace, Ladies and Gentlemen.
Sonic the Hedgehog or "Sonic 06'" as it's more colloquially known, was supposed to completely reboot the series, initialising the character and bringing him to the forefront of the HD era. They surprisingly did succeed on bringing Sonic once again into the limelight, but it wasn't exactly to the tune of resounding acclaim reminiscent of his 16-bit days.
It wouldn't be here if that was the case. Let's look at the positives vs. the negatives shall we.
Positives: They tried.
Negatives: The final result.
Other than it's focus on the bestiality based romance with a cartoon hedgehog romanticising a human princess. It's inability to tell a cohesive story and it's complete redesign look more akin to a Final Fantasy game than anything even remotely Sonic related. The game was bashed by everyone for it's plethora of bugs and glitches. Bugs and glitches so cumulatively vast and so frustratingly disjointed that most people couldn't even finish the game. Even those, that for some reason wanted to, genuinely couldn't as the developers decided that Sonic must fall through everything - while missing platforms completely and cycling through animations like he was pulling the reels of a slot machine.
That was just in the first act too.
