10 Video Games You Couldn't Make Yourself Finish

Most of us didn't make it to the end of these games.

Studies repeatedly show that the vast majority of people don't finish most of the games they play, which in a world where we've all got massive backlogs and never enough time to do everything we want, shouldn't be terribly surprising.

But sometimes it isn't so much a case of life getting in the way or being distracted by other newer, shinier games, but simply a struggle to persuade ourselves to keep pushing towards the finish line.

Perhaps a game's story just keeps going long after the point that you've had your fill of its gameplay systems, or maybe the side quests and open world are so damn enthralling that the campaign kinda pales by comparison.

Whatever the reason, these 10 video games went unfinished by the masses, with many never rolling the credits for one reason or another.

In some cases it's hardly a reflection of the game's quality at all, but rather a testament to its immersive qualities elsewhere, though some of the games absolutely could've used some judicious editing to make them feel like less of a chore to complete.

So if you actually made it to the end of these games, give yourself a hardy pat on the back...

10. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

On paper it might seem mildly sacrilegious to have never beaten The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, considering both its widespread popularity and the fact that you've had the better part of 15 years to make your way through it.

Though the legendary RPG's critical path can be easily beaten in around 30-40 hours, there are still a shocking number of players out there who've found the wider world so fascinatingly distracting that they've simply never bothered to actually clock the story.

The Skyrim subreddit is jam-packed with posts of players who talk of spending hundreds, even thousands of hours in the game and yet they haven't ever bothered to tie up the story, because they've found venturing off the beaten path infinitely more compelling.

Between the sheer amount of Things To Do away from the campaign and mind-boggling number of mods released for the game since launch, this isn't terribly surprising, and it's fair to assume that the exact same thing will happen with the upcoming The Elder Scrolls VI.
