10 Video Games You Didn't Know Were Hidden In Other Games
7. Donkey Kong 64 - Original Donkey Kong
Nintendo's Donkey Kong 64 was a vast platformer, and a dream come true for obsessive in-game trinket collectors. Bananas, coconuts, weapons, keys, potions, coins - the list of things to collect goes on and on, and much of the time these things are compulsory. For some it was a delightful treasure hunt, for others these led to hugely frustrating progress gates. There were two real-world arcade titles hidden here too, both of which were essential to complete the game. The first, JetPac, was the kind of in-game game which you played because you had to. The original Donkey Kong, on the other hand, is as charming as it ever was, and still worth a spin. Even if you have no interest in Mario (Ok, Jump Man), you had no choice but to spend some time clambering up that construction tower here if you had any intention of finishing this massive Nintendo 64 adventure. Nintendo owes a lot to good old Mario, and his appearance here - located in the Frantic Factory level - is a reminder of his incredible legacy.
Game-obsessed since the moment I could twiddle both thumbs independently. Equally enthralled by all the genres of music that your parents warned you about.
